Returns Policy
We want you to be completely happy with your telescope and accessories. If, within 30 days of receiving your order you are unhappy with your telescope, you may return it for a complete refund of your purchase price. If your telescope is unopened, there is no restocking fee. However, we do charge a 20% restocking fee on all telescope orders once the telescope has been opened and removed from its original carton. You must return the telescope in new condition with all of the parts and accessories intact and undamaged to qualify for a refund. We can not extend the refund period beyond 30 days under any circumstances, except that purchases made between November 1st and December 4th may be returned up through January 5.
Unfortunately, we can not accept returns of software or DVDs once they have been opened.
You must obtain a Returns Authorization before sending your product back. Return Authorizations are issued by e-mail only, so please write to us at returns@protelescope.com for returns issues. Regrettably, our telephone sales representatives are unable process returns.
Telescope Technical Support
We will do everything we can to make sure that you have a working telescope. But a lot of it will be up to you. Over the phone or by e-mail it is nearly impossible for us to teach you how to identify the planets, or to locate a particular star cluster. Buying a telescope is kind of like buying a guitar -- learning how to play is up to you! Telescopes are much easier to use than guitars are to play, but there is an element of learning that is in your court.
If you find that you need help using your telescope and finding space objects, we strongly recommend the book The Backyard Astronomer's Guide by Terence Dickenson & Alan Dyer. This is possibly the best book we've found on using telescopes and enjoying stargazing in your backyard. This great hardback book is full of large color photographs and detailed explanations.
Warranties
- TwinStar, AstroQuest, AstroVenture & Baytronix Telescope Models: These telescopes have a limited 30 day warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Of course, out of the box, your telescope should work perfectly and have all of the parts you need. If you notice any problems within the first 30 days, you're covered. ProTelescope.com is an authorized service center for these model telescopes and we handle warranty and repair service in house. After 30 days, you may purchase an Extended Warranties to give you peace of mind that if anything goes wrong with your telescope down the road, we'll be there to fix it for you.
- Meade Telescopes: We are authorized Meade telescope dealers. Meade generally offers a 1 year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Service on Meade products is handled by Meade and warranty information is found in the materials that ship with your telescope. We do offer Meade's Sky Assurance Extended 3 and 5 Year Warranties on Meade products.
